Founded in 1987, Jomashop is a New York-based retailer of luxury watches, accessories, and handbags. Jomashop targets customers who enjoy possessing luxury products, but don’t necessarily have the funds to purchase them at full price.

The shop is known for providing genuine branded products by Michael Kors, Burberry, Patek Philippe, etc., at unusually heavy discounts (between 20-40% off).
These are often telltale signs of a grey market, where genuine products are sold via channels unauthorized by the brand.

The marketplace has received mixed reviews from customers. While some claim to have had no issues with the platform over the course of several years and multiple purchases, others complain of products arriving in a different condition than advertised, dissatisfactory customer service, and nonexistent refunds.
These complaints are also in line with the typical behavior patterns seen on grey markets, where, although the products are genuine, manufacturer’s warranties and other services don’t apply due to the product being sold outside of the brand’s authorized network.
A California-based customer even filed a lawsuit against Jomashop in 2025, citing a false reference pricing scheme, which is unfair, unlawful, and misleading for potential buyers.
Jomashop serves over 2 million registered customers in more than 150 countries across the globe. The company reports an annual revenue of around $200 million, and its website has around 10 million monthly visitors.
A quick search confirms that customers can indeed spot suspiciously great deals on Jomashop. For instance, we found a Breitling Avenger Men’s Watch offered for $2,450 (approx. 2,140 euros), when an official retail partner of the brand, Lepage, lists the same product for 6,900 euros.

Jomashop purchases its stock from authorized sellers and guarantees the authenticity of the products offered on the marketplace. However, as Jomashop itself is not an authorized seller and offers the products outside of the brand’s distribution network, many products arrive without the manufacturer’s warranty, or may not comply with the safety regulations of the specific region they’re sold in.
Jomashop offers an affiliate program to content creators, blogs, and influencers. Affiliates get 4-10% commission on referred sales and can enjoy exclusive deals, further discounts, and other advantages.
Although mainly a B2C marketplace, Jomashop also offers consumers a chance to sell their used luxury watches to the platform. Interested customers can fill out a form, providing the necessary details of their watch. Jomashop promises to get back to them within a few days. Consumers are then required to send the item in question to the platform, where a horology expert examines it. Based on this examination, Jomashop makes a purchase offer.
There’s a clear distinction between grey and black markets.
Black markets deal with a wide array of illegal and/or restricted products like firearms, drugs, counterfeit products, endangered animals, and even human beings. Grey markets, on the other hand, sell genuine branded products outside of their authorized zones.
As we’ve shown above, Jomashop displays all the telltale signs of a grey market. It

This means that while buying products from Jomashop is not illegal, most listings featured there should not be offered as they are to customers, and may cause problems for them later on due to inefficient safety features, the lack of warranties, and bad quality customer service.
Unfortunately, there’s another party that faces significantly higher risks due to Jomashop and other grey markets: the brand whose products are marketed this way.
Grey markets can have a much more significant effect on a brand than you’d think.
Imagine this scenario. Your brand has spent a long time carefully creating the pricing strategy that’s fair and as advantageous as possible for you, your authorized distributors, and your customers. It’s a delicate balance that is vulnerable to many outside factors. And into this balance comes an unauthorized seller who offers the same product to the same customers for a lower price.
You lose much more than the profit margin on the products sold for less. Your entire pricing strategy is disrupted, and your authorized distributors find themselves competing with the exact same products at an unfairly low price. In the short term, this may only cause a few grumbles, but the longer it goes on, the harder it will be to reinstate trust in your entire distribution network.
And let’s not forget about the customers. While they may be initially happy to have gained your products for a lower price, they’ll eventually encounter problems in the form of subpar customer service, a lack of warranties, and, if the products come from a different region, non-compliant safety features. In the long term, instances like these can have devastating effects on your brand’s image and reputation.
Discover the value of your brand’s reputation!
Brands whose products appear on Jomashop and other grey markets are bound to encounter these issues, and more.
Luckily, globaleyez’s grey market solution is designed to detect and eliminate grey markets as quickly and efficiently as possible.
The first step in dismantling grey markets is their detection. Our monitoring services discover all types of grey market content that feature your IP-protected assets.
Thanks to versatile filters, we can filter out permissible content and focus entirely on unauthorized product listings or images. On Jomashop, for example, we might discover that your product listings have been published on the platform without your consent, or that your copyrighted image has been used in their advertising without your permission.
The next step is a test purchase that allows us to gather as much information as possible about the origins of the product. This is crucially important for dismantling grey markets, because this way you’ll be able to learn where the leak is in your distribution network, i.e., in our case, which of your authorized sellers decided to disregard their contract and pass your product on to Jomashop.
Finally, we offer to enforce your rights and demand the removal of the infringing content (product listing, ad, social media post, webshop, image, etc.) from the internet.
Grey markets can cause significant harm to brands’ revenue and reputation, destroying the hard-earned trust of their customers and honest distribution partners in the process.
