Amazon Pay cashback program, Shop & Earn Deals explained

Highlights

  • Amazon Pay’s Shop & Earn Deals gives cashback to customers on eligible purchases
  • In January 2026, the program is in beta, with only four merchants participating in Germany
  • Fast and easy payment methods can also aid fraudulent sellers to gain the trust of customers

Shop & Earn Deals is a cashback program introduced by Amazon in early 2026 in Germany. Customers who buy products from participating merchants and pay with Amazon Pay can earn back a percentage of the purchase price.

At the time of writing, only four merchants (Reserving, 0815, Jalousiescout, and Metzler) are participating in the program, offering between 2-10% cashback on select purchases. Customers who pay with Amazon Pay will find the offered amount in their Amazon wallet to be used in a future purchase on select deals.

The program is currently in beta version, but in case of success, Shop & Earn Deals is expected to be extended to other merchants and territories.

What is Amazon Pay

A loyalty program at heart, Shop & Earn Deals is Amazon’s next attempt to compete with payment providers like Klarna, PayPal, and Wero.

Amazon Pay allows Amazon customers to purchase products on other marketplaces and webshops using the information (e.g., address, payment method) stored in their Amazon accounts.

Besides this convenience, Amazon Pay also provides Amazon’s usual protection, A to Z Guarantee, to every purchase made via this payment method. This may increase customers’ confidence to shop at lesser-known webshops - an incentive for merchants to adopt Amazon Pay as a payment method.

Strategic implications

For Amazon, the advantages are clear. Offering Amazon Pay to use outside of the marketplace expands the Amazon ecosystem, tying external players to the platform. The payment method also allows the e-Commerce giant to collect data about its customers’ off-platform habits, learning more about their preferences. And this is data Amazon certainly needs, considering the growing importance of AI platforms in e-Commerce.

The amount of cashback Amazon Pay offers suggests that Shop & Earn Deals is also a way to carve out a bigger part of the payments market for itself. The program competes with initiatives like Klarna’s Pay Later, an offer that allows Klarna customers to delay payment for up to 30 days, interest-free.

As for independent merchants using Amazon Pay, the main advantage is the higher conversion rates stemming from the usage of a trusted payment method, as well as the convenience customers experience by not having to type out their contact and banking information when making a purchase.

Opportunities and risks for brands

The advantages for Amazon, independent merchants, and customers are clear. But what about brands?

The opportunities Amazon Pay presents for your brand are similar to those of independent merchants. You can enjoy a competitive edge stemming from more website traffic, higher conversion rates, increased customer trust and loyalty (this is especially important for new and/or lesser-known brands), as well as more data.

However, these advantages are present for dishonest sellers as well. Easy and fast checkout methods, in the hands of merchants who infringe on your IP rights, can have a devastating effect on your brand. This is why a comprehensive online brand protection program is necessary to catch infringing content before it has a chance to wreak havoc on your brand’s reputation and finances.

Our domain monitoring service, for instance, catches single webshops and any other sites that use your IP-protected assets without your consent. Our marketplace monitoring service does the same on over 150 marketplaces worldwide, while our image monitoring catches image-based content, like pictures and ads, anywhere online.

Then, thanks to our fast and effective enforcement service, infringing content is removed from the internet just as fast as it pops up.

Conclusion

Amazon Pay’s Shop & Earn Deals provides merchants with an easy incentive to attract and keep customers. However, the advantages provided to honest merchants are just as available to sellers of lookalikes and other infringing products.
